LAS VEGAS - Despite only having four K&N Pro Series West starts entering the season-opening Star Nursery 100 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Dirt Track, Austin Reed looked like a savvy veteran in practice on Thursday evening.

The 26-year-old Bakersfield, California native posted the quickest time in the 45-minute session (22.447 seconds) in his No. 14 Approved Memory/Lucas Oil Toyota. His best circuit came on his 26th of 37 laps around the half-mile dirt track.

You may not have heard much of him in the #NASCAR world yet, but @ReedRacing14 was fastest in practice. Hear what he has to say about his quick time in the 45-minute session.

"The car felt really good," Reed said after practice. "We did a lot of work to it today just trying to get it fine tuned. In practice last night, we weren’t as good as we wanted to be. We got Logan Seavey helping us […] I just can’t thank everyone enough."

Reed has one top 10 finish (Evergreen, 2010) in his K&N Pro Series career. He competed in this event one year ago and finished 11th.
