COTO DE CAZA, California -- Austin Reed, driver of the #514 Ringers Gloves, RBP, Headblade.com, Approved Memory, Pimphats.com, FOX SHOX, thenfactorpics.com Modified Kart Toyota Tundra competing in the popular CORR closed circuit off road series returns to Pomona just outside Los Angeles this weekend.
Austin is looking forward to the return to Pomona as he earned his first podium finish at this track back in April. Since then he has had consistent finishes in the third and fourth rounds at Primm, Nevada. His successful work on the track has resulted in his being 3rd in the points overall after four races.
Austin shared “I am really getting a lot more comfortable in the Elite/Modified truck and it is showing on the race track. Before the first race of the year I only had one day of practice in the truck and one race in the SXS series at Lake Elsinore. Now that we have had 4 races along with practice and qualifying I feel a lot more confident than when the season started.” When asked about his thoughts on the upcoming weekend, Austin commented, “the race track at Pomona is very challenging and there is not a lot of room for mistakes. You really had to hit your shifting points perfect or you would get passed coming out of the corners.
Austin Reed Racing is off to a great start and the team is very optimistic for the rest of the year. They are still working hard to get their first win in CORR. The team is confident that if Austin keeps running hard and consistent it will come soon. The team attributes their success to the combined efforts of everyone involved including FOX SHOX. They believe their relationship and support they receive from them provides an advantage. Dave Reed commented “Since we bolted the FOX SHOX on the truck the handling has been better and better. The changes that Todd has made along with our feed back and his observation at the races has worked really well. We are really excited to have someone like FOX in our corner as there are so many top teams running their shox and now we know why.”
Kassidy Johnson from Foothill Ranch, driver of the #414 Greatshowers.com, FOX SHOX, and Twisted Sister racing in the Kart JR 2 class and is a team truck to Austin's Modified truck. Dave shared “Kassidy is a hard worker and helps to take care of her kart on race weekends. Her positive attitude is great to have around and we are excited to have her as part of our race team. Kassidy is committed to making this weekends race her best race yet. We have made some major changes to her truck and we are looking to make sure she has one of the best prepared trucks. She is very competitive in nature being the daughter of PRO -2 driver Ricky Johnson and sister to Luke (16 years old) both racing in CORR.” Kassidy comes into Pomona in 9th place in the points in the Kart JR 2 class.
Trophy Karts are smaller versions of the Trophy Trucks. The new Elite/Modified Kart has a KX250F 38HP Kawasaki 4 stroke motor, Chromoly Cage, thicker tubing than standard TK, 4wheel Disc brakes with JDA Hose and Fittings brake lines, Steering Rack, Rear Sway Bar, 22" Tires, 10" Wheels, 5 speed Sequential Transmission, 4 Gallon Fuel Cell, 300M Rear Axle, 4 Link Rear Suspension, 2 Bros. Racing Pipe, and will do 80 mph. The JR. 2 Modified kart has a Subaru 15 horsepower sealed spec motor with has a top speed of about 50 mph.
Austin and Kassidy's Karts are prepared by DeJong Off-Road in Temecula, CA and Austin is a teammate to Mitchell DeJong.
