Legend Car

Austin Reed and Ryan Reed will be racing a double header this weekend in two different states with consecutive days racing in the popular 600 Racing Legend Cars Saturday and Sunday. The two 15-years olds from Bakersfield will race Saturday night at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, CA on Saturday night. They will then head to the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday afternoon after the SRL event to race in the Legends National qualifier. After taking the checkered on Saturday night, the team, headed up by Toby Tobias and Alex Romero, will change over the cars and head directly to Las Vegas to run Sunday afternoon.

Dave Reed commented “Michael Gaughan and the great folks at South Point Hotel and Casino are taking care of us for this doubleheader. The team will need a great night’s sleep after a long day of racing and travel all in one day. This trip starts in Bakersfield, CA Saturday morning, stops by Irwindale, CA and continues to Las Vegas, NV all in one day.”

This year has been a great year thus far for the boys. Austin is on a torrid pace getting himself acclimated to driving on asphalt after coming from short-course off road racing. He is gaining experience every time he turns a lap. This will be his fourth different race track in 6 starts this year! He shared, “I am excited to race at the Bullring. It is a fast race track and I will have to get the set up dialed in the 20 min practice session. Plus I have some family there that I hope will be at the track to watch the race. My Dad will also be spotting for Craig Raudman in the SRL race so this will be a fun weekend.”

Ryan is coming off the past race at Irwindale with a great race car that was bad fast. He sat on the pole and was going for the lead when there was contact made, with only a few laps to go, that sent him to the back of the pack. Ryan commented “Vegas is a fun place to go and race. I was there a few times last year.” Ryan has been fast every weekend and is looking forward to returning to Vegas for some unfinished business. The team has some big announcements coming soon in the next few weeks regarding long term plans that will keep the boys racing for many years to come.
